The EPA commissioned a calibrated 3-dimensional hydrodynamic model of the area which provided river inputs at 45 locations.
The EPA commissioned a calibrated 3-dimensional hydrodynamic model fully stratified by temperature and salinity and coupled to a catchment model of the area which provided river inputs at 45 locations. The model was used to explore the flushing behaviour of the bays for a variety of contaminants as well as investigating pathogen pathways and primary production under recent conditions as well as under the effects of climate change scenarios. Results were used to guide future monitoring programmes and identify high risk areas under extreme climatic conditions.
