Tidal Energy Feasibility Study
The project examined the potential to install tidal generators within Kaipara Harbour.
The project examined the potential to install tidal generators within the largest estuary in New Zealand: Kaipara Harbour. After a comprehensive fieldwork programme a fully calibrated and validated hydrodynamic model was used to target tidal energy extraction locations.
The model was used to conduct an environmental impact assessment to determine the effect of installing tidal generators on circulation patterns and harbour sedimentation.
