Design of Two Coastal Erosion Options for Eastern Tongatapu
The project works towards developing coastal resilience as part of the Global Climate Change Alliance: Pacific Small Island States.
Following review of the historic and recent information on the relatively sheltered sites (including sites within the lagoon entrance), a Draft Design Document was prepared that included a description of the two pilot construction options (one hard and one soft engineering solution), justification of their selection, prioritisation of the options, engineering drawings and specifications, detailed costs and schedule for completion of works for each option. A site visit, data collection and consultation in Tonga led to the development of detailed designs and costing for these trial projects directed at developing coastal resilience as part of the Global Climate Change Alliance: Pacific Small Island States (GCCA:PSIS) initiative.
